DAY HIKES for a moderate outing
Sangre de Cristo mountains, where the Rockies start
These hikes are great for going deeper into the wild, at higher elevation, more trail distance, and for more time in nature. For solo hikers, couples, small family & friend parties, to larger groups. On-trail time is 3 to 4 hours and ample energy snacks are offered at a mid-hike break. Morning starts are best, but afternoon hikes can also be arranged. Advance scheduling is appreciated. Short notice arrangements often work, so don’t hesitate to text Brian for current availability.
All drives from Santa Fe to the trailheads are quite scenic!
All day hikes can be extended or reduced in trail time and physical challenge.
Fee includes: tax, entrance & parking fees, permitting, trail food, and additional vehicles (if needed).
Round trip distances are 5-to-12 miles. Expect elevation gain. Trailheads are at 8,000-10,000 feet, higher than Santa Fe’s 7,000 feet. Shorter drives take us up in the local mountains above Santa Fe; longer drives are quite scenic. We can make a nice day out of the combined driving and hiking.
